The HIV testing online course is designed to provide nurses with the necessary education to begin to offer HIV prevention and testing services in their communities and/or workplace.
The goals of the HIV Testing Online Course are:
The course will be run over five weeks, and consists of five modules that take approximately one hour each to complete. There is no charge for the HIV Testing Online course. A certificate will be available upon completion.

Please complete the application form in full and submit it by email or fax. We recommend that you keep a copy of the completed form for your records.
This course is limited to British Columbia residents. Applicants who are supported by one of British Columbia's health authorities and will be using HIV testing skills upon course completion will be given priority.
A maximum of 20 learners will be accepted into each course session.

- Module 1 - The Virus and the Impact of HIV: Introduces the course, reviews HIV as a pathogen and disease, describes the impacts of HIV prevention and treatment.
Module 2 - HIV Tests: Describes and compares the characteristics of HIV tests used in BC
Module 3 - Working with Populations: Considers approaches and principles that guide engaging populations in HIV testing in BC
Module 4 - HIV Testing Discussions: Overview of the key elements of HIV testing discussions required to achieve informed consent, provide results to HIV tests, and follow up with HIV positive results.
Module 5 - Partner Follow up: Describes the stages and roles of partner follow up and notification.
