Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Point of Care Testing Online Courses

The HIV Point of Care Online Courses are available on the PHSA Learning Hub.  Users can log in or sign up for a new account and then search for "HIV Point of Care". 

These courses are available to:

  • Nurses, nurse-practioners and physicians offering HIV test to clients, and,
  • Healthcare personnel or support individuals who discuss HIV, tests and risks with clients

HIV Point of Care Online Course Information

The HIV Point of Care online course consists of two modules that cover the INSTI test and the quality assurance elements that support the test.  The course takes approximately 30 minutes per module and 10 minutes for the final quiz.

A certificate of completion is available upon the completion of the two modules and a minimum grade of 80% (20/25) on the final quiz.

HIV Point of Care - Practicum for New Learners Information

Once learners have completed the HIV Point of Care online course they may submit their certificate of completion to participate in a practicum for new testers. INSTI test performance and interpretation skills must be assessed prior to a tester being able to offer this test to a client. Details are decided on a site by site basis.

Please contact the BC Program Lead or your site HIV POC Lead to arrange a session where INSTI test skills can be directly assessed.

A Certificate of Completion will be sent to learners upon completion of the practicum.
