What families can do to prevent illness at school

There are steps people can take to reduce the risk of communicable diseases in these settings.

Get vaccinated

Vaccines are important tools to protect against many serious communicable diseases. Staff and families are also encouraged to ensure they are up to date on all recommended vaccines

Stay home if sick

In general, do not send your child to schools, child care settings, and camps if they are sick and unable to participate fully in routine activities.

Clean hands

Clean your hands often. This means washing your hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer.
