  • Investigation of adverse events after intra-vitreal injection of Avastin  
    A cluster of adverse events, namely sterile endophthalmitis /Toxic Anterior Segment Syndrome (TASS) was associated with the intra-vitreal injection of a specific packaging lot of bevacizumab (Avastin™) administered for the treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

    This report describes trends in HIV positive individuals immigrating to BC, characterizes these trends according to immigration from HIV endemic countries, and examines the timeliness of reporting by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
  • Trends in Herpes Simplex Virus in BC: 1992 - 2006  
    This report provides a provincial and regional summary of recent trends in herpes simplex virus infections (HSV-1 and HSV-2) and related medical services in BC through analysis of existing laboratory and health care utilization datasets.  The focus is on genital herpes and neonatal herpes cases from 1992 - 2006.

  • Cross-reactive and vaccine-induced antibody to emerging swine influenza A(H3N2)v  
    Cases of a novel swine-origin influenza A(H3N2) variant (A(H3N2)v) have recently been identified in the US, primarily among children. The authors estimate cross-reactive antibody to A(H3N2)v by age and assess whether seasonal trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine(TIV), with/without adjuvant, may improve sero-protection.
  • BC Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Prevention, Treatment and Control  
    The BC Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Prevention, Treatment and Control is a framework through which we can improve the health of people in BC by guiding and supporting efforts to reduce TB incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality.
  • Harm Reduction Product Distribution in BC  
    The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) tracks the distribution of all harm reduction products subsidized by the BC government, including needles and syringes, sterile water vials, alcohol swabs, condoms, and lubricant. This study measures the distribution of harm reduction products in BC, identifies regional variation in distribution, and estimates the supply/demand ratio for needle and syringe units
