  • Combating Viral Hepatitis through Education  
    The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), and the BC Institute for Technology (BCIT) are launching a new online Viral Hepatitis Course for health and social care providers.
  • Raw, Undercooked Shellfish Can Cause Illness  
    As outdoor temperatures increase, so does the risk of illnesses associated with eating raw or undercooked bivalve shellfish (e.g. oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, cockles).
  • New Vaccine Offered to Better Protect B.C. Kids  
    Beginning this June, British Columbia’s routine childhood immunization program will include Prevnar 13, a vaccine that offers protection against 13 strains of pneumococcal disease, announced Healthy Living and Sport Minister Ida Chong.
  • Genomic Surveillance of Pandemic H1N1  
    The BC Centre for Disease Control has launched an influenza genome sequencing project to better understand how the pandemic H1N1 flu virus has evolved in British Columbia, and may continue to evolve in the coming months.
