  • Measles Advisory  
    The BCCDC is notifying the public because a person with infectious measles travelled by air through Vancouver International Airport prior to their arrival and diagnosis in Edmonton. Other travelers may have been exposed on the same flights, or while sharing the same airspace at the airport.
  • Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning Illnesses in BC  
    BCCDC is warning the public that some BC mussels may cause diarrhea and vomiting. These mussels contain diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxin that is not destroyed by cooking. If you have eaten BC mussels and experienced illness, please report to public health.

  • BC expands immunizations for children  
    Starting Jan. 1, 2012, three new vaccines will be added to the British Columbia childhood immunization schedule, to ensure that children in B.C. get the most effective protection possible from preventable diseases.
  • Make sure apple juice and cider are pasteurized  
    With the arrival of apple season in the fall, it’s important to remember that unpasteurized apple juice and cider can sometimes be infected with harmful bacteria, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall and the BC Centre for Disease Control, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority, are reminding the public.
