  • Shellfish Safety for Harvesters  
    Brochure that describes when, where and how to harvest shellfish safety, contact information for DFO to find out about beach closures, safe cooking, transport and storage of shellfish and types of illnesses caused by shellfish: ASP, PSP, hepatitis A, norovirus, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
  • Shellfish Safety for Restaurants  
    Brochure for owners and operators of restaurants that describes requirements for purchasing shellfish from approved sources, keeping shellfish tags for one year, and safe storage, temperature control  and cooking of shellfish.
  • Shellfish Advice for Consumers  
    Describes how to purchase, store, transport and cook shellfish from a consumer safety perspective.  Discusses shellfish harvesting and potential risks of consuming shellfish.  Produced in collaboration with BC Shellfish Growers Association, Health Canada, CFIA and Regional Health Authorities.

    This STI handout on Herpes was developed by BCCDC.

    The Canadian Association of Hepatology Nurses (CAHN) standards provide a basis for the evaluation of professional, ethical nursing practice in hepatology.
  • Hep C Youth Education Project  Manual  
    A resource for youth service providers to assist them to produce educational presentations on viral hepatitis, particularly Hepatitis C.

Training & Events

  • Hepatology Nurse Leaders' Workshop   
    This workshop is an educational opportunity for nurses working in the field of viral hepatitis to network and increase their knowledge of current practice issues.
  • PCRS Workshop   
    The Partner Counselling and Referral Services (PCRS) workshop provides information and practice in the development of effective, non-coercive techniques to encourage clients to voluntarily identify sexual and injection drug-use partners.  The HIV Pre & Post Test Counselling Workshop is a prerequisite for this course.
  • HIV Pre & Post Test Counselling Workshop   
    The HIV Pre and Post-test Counselling Workshop is designed for community health nurses involved in HIV pre and post test counselling.  This is a two day workshop that uses lecture and skills building exercises to lead you through the HIV testing process and providing results.
  • STI Certified Practice Exit Evaluation (Challenge Exam)   
    The College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) has approved the BC Centre for Disease Control's (BCCDC) STI education course as a recognized program to provide Certified Practice STI education for registered nurses in BC.  During the transition period for implementing certified practices in B.C., the BCCDC will be offering an on-line Exit Evaluation (challenge exam) to RNs who are currently practicing in STIs as one of the options to meet the criteria for CRNBC Certification in Reproductive Health/STI.  The Exit Evaluation is a web-based , multiple choice, "open book" exam (using the STI Decision Support Tools).  The BCCDC will administrate the on-line exit evaluation and provide successful exam results to CRNBC as part of the certification process.
