Workshop Details
This workshop is designed for healthcare providers who provide HIV counselling and testing. It provides information and practice in the development of effective, non-coercive techniques to encourage clients to voluntarily identify sexual and injection drug-use partners.
This is a skills building program. Participants will have opportunity to practice skills in a non-threatening, supportive atmosphere. Commitment to full time participation is requested as the program is designed to progress in practical, incremental steps using small group work, discussion groups and practice sessions.
Partner counselling as presented in the PCRS course compliments the existing counselling guidelines for HIV antibody testing. As a pre-requisite for this course, participants should attend a HIV Pre and Post-test Counseling course or have equivalent experience with HIV antibody testing.
