Preventing Infection

The BC Centre for Disease Control has a host of infection prevention programs and services on antibiotic resistance, hand hygiene and harm reduction.

BCCDC and PICNet Working Together

One of BCCDC’s key partners in infection prevention and control in BC is the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC (PICNet-BC).

Established in January 2005 by the BC Ministry of Health Services, PICNet-BC is a provincially supported infection control knowledge collaborative, providing guidance and advice on healthcare associated infection prevention and control in BC.
  • PICNet-BC is a program under the auspices of the Provincial Health Services Authority, and focuses primarily on surveillance, evidence-based best practice guidelines, and education and training.
  • PICNet-BC encourages and facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration, creating opportunities for healthcare professionals with an interest in infection control to work together to identify priorities and solutions.
