Bevel Up: Drugs, Users & Outreach Nursing
|
“Bevel Up" is a compelling, award-winning documentary that chronicles the work of the BCCDC street nurses as they provide compassionate, effective - and non-judgmental - health care to men and women in Vancouver’s inner city. Harm reduction is a cornerstone of this “best nursing practice” It is evident in the care provided for people who are most vulnerable, often stigmatized and face multiple barriers in accessing health care because of drug use, sex work, homelessness, mental health issues, racism, poverty, etc. |

“Bevel Up” is an interactive educational tool that combines a 45-minute documentary with an additional 3.5 hours of in-depth expert interviews and additional footage structured around the key ethical, practical and legal issues faced by health practitioners – questions that examine the intersection of health care and drug use.
Bevel Up is intended to promote dialogue among health care practitioners and to encourage the critical examination of the practices and systems that continue to stigmatize and create barriers for this vulnerable population.
