Immunization programs are an important foundation of British Columbia’s health system. Vaccines save lives and make it possible for British Columbians to live free of the illness and disability associated with many communicable diseases. They are also a sound fiscal investment as they reduce demand on the health system.

- HPV vaccine for women born from 1991-93
- Pertussis outbreak in Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health: visit the ImmunizeBC pertussis page for more information on pertussis (whooping cough) and where to get the vaccine.
- Rotavirus: added to the BC routine immunization schedule. Rotavirus vaccine is given at the 2 month and 4 month immunization visits.
- Varicella: second dose added
- Hepatitis A: added to schedule free for aboriginal children starting at 6months.
- Influenza: groups eligible for a free shot.
- Prevnar®13 is now available and protects against 13 strains of pneumococcal disease
