Shingles (Zoster) Vaccine
A shingles (zoster) vaccine was approved for use in Canada in 2008. It is available for persons 60 years of age and older, but is not publicly funded.The shingles vaccine is not currently part of British Columbia’s immunization schedule.
The shingles vaccine is not the same as the chickenpox vaccine, although they are related. Children and susceptible adults in BC are eligible to receive chickenpox vaccine.
