Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine

The Gardasil™ vaccine protects against two types of human papillomaviruses (HPV) that cause most cervical cancers. It also protects against two types of HPV that cause most genital warts.

NEW INFORMATION for Parents/Guardians of Grade 6 and 9 girls in Vancouver, Richmond, and Fraser Health

Gardasil™

Starting in the 2008-2009 school year, HPV vaccine is provided free to girls in BC in grades 6 and 9 as part of the routine immunization schedule.

For women not covered by the school based program, please talk to your doctor.
