Radiological Health Promotion and Prevention
Radiological health promotion and prevention focuses on assessing occupational exposures and patient doses associated with current and emerging imaging modalities and procedures. Identifying the key determinants influencing observed radiation doses is another goal of radiological health promotion and prevention. The ultimate aim of these activities is to provide guidance on the optimization of radiation protection of medical staff and the public during medical x-ray procedures (see Personal Protection - Patient and Worker).
The protection of workers and members of the public from the hazards of medical x-ray radiation is controlled by Health Canada’s Safety Codes and WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations.
