Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis Toxoplasmosis is a fairly common infection caused by a protozoan parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. In healthy individuals, this rarely causes problems, and is often an asymptomatic illness. However, the fetuses of pregnant women can be severely affected. Anyone who is pregnant, or thinking of becoming pregnant should follow some basic rules around household cats and with handling meat.
