Meningococcal disease is a severe infection cased by a bacterium called Neisseria meningitidis.
Since the introduction of routine meningococcal immunization, the rates of meningitis in children have steadily declined.
Among children 1 to 14 years old, there was only one case of meningococcal meningitis in BC in 2007. |
