Sexual health is an essential component of sexuality. Sexual health includes the ability of people to express their sexuality in ways that respect the rights of others. (WHO, 2009)
Access to reproductive health care and sexual health education are major aspects of sexual health. All people have the right to decide “whether, when, and with whom” (WHO, 2009) to enter into a sexual relationship or to have a family. All people have the right to access reproductive health care and to experience sexuality in ways that are free from abuse, coercion or exploitation that respect their choices as individuals and the individual choices and rights of others. Desire, sexual pleasure, and the attainment of fulfilling human relationships are important components of sexual health.
