The Outreach / Street Nurse Program provides expertise and provincial leadership in STI/HIV/TB prevention with vulnerable populations in outreach settings.
The team consists of STI/Reproductive Health Certified Registered Nurses and Health Care Workers who work on the streets and in shelters, hotels, parks, bathhouses, corrections and detox facilities. We work with diverse communities including sex workers, people who use drugs, street youth and men who have sex with men.
Through the lens of health promotion and harm reduction we use creative and innovative prevention strategies to:
- provide clinical care
- develop and implement projects
- educate and mentor
- advocate for vulnerable populations
The success of our program relies on partnerships, community collaboration and a client centred approach.
We offer mentorship to communities and health care providers in BC and Canada.
