The Division of STI/HIV Prevention and Control is exclusively focused on the prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections (STI), including HIV and AIDS. Some of the services of the STI/HIV division include:

  • STI Clinical Services
The division's patient services are delivered through two principle channels: the STI Clinic, located in the BCCDC building at 655 West 12th Avenue in Vancouver, and the Street/Outreach Nurse Program, which operates from a number of locations throughout the city. The health, dignity and rights of our clients are our foremost concern.

  • STI/HIV-related Education for Health Care Providers
The division provides STI related training throughout the province to medical residents, public health nurses and other health care providers.

  • STI Epidemiological Data and Consultation
The division acts as the provincial reporting centre for cases of STI, HIV and AIDS. Provincial law requires most STIs, including HIV, be reported so that the trends and patterns can be accurately measured. Our role is to recored, track and share this important data for the benefit of provincial health care authorities, as well as organizations and governments in national and international jurisdictions.
